Ten Minutes with Supernatural’s Misha Collins

Cyn: When Castiel returned from his trip “home” he had some rather biting comments for Dean. What exactly happened up there to make him do such a 180?

Misha: I honestly don’t know that much more than you do about why the change in attitude, except for some things that I do know that you don’t know.

Cyn: Could you vague that up a bit more, Misha?

Misha: I’m guessing when I say, I think that [Castiel] was dragged up to heaven and he was tortured or very sternly rebuked in some way that, pardon the expression, put the fear of God back in him and now he’s back to toeing the party line, which is how he started.

I think that’s where Castiel was in episodes one and four of the season. But I think he started to have a lot of doubt and he started to develop a fondness for the boys and concern for their well being and I think that he was dragged back upstairs and. . . there was something a little bit telling in what Anna says. Something to the effect that it’s really, really bad news to be dragged back upstairs and that, to me, makes it sound like maybe there was some waterboarding that went on up there.

TVFanatic.com: So is the ink dry, are you an official season five series regular?
Misha Collins: It is official. I received a letter in the mail. I think letters always make things official. I'm thrilled to be apart of it for next season. I'm thrilled I got the news early enough so I can find a new apartment in Vancoucer. I'm not going to be a regular in all the episodes like Jared and Jensen, but I'm definitely gonna be in for the season.

TVFanatic.com: What's it like joining a long running show with such an established fan base?
Misha: It's been great. I've been really surprised that I've been as welcomes into as well. I didn't even know this fan community existed. Some people are nervous about new people joining the show.They're nervous it's going to take away from Jared and Jensen's time. I think it's absurd. I think the show's core is always going to be about these two brothers and their relationship. I think my character is going to be there to help that storyline. Some people are so enthusiastic to have me on. it's been really cool. i thought i was only gonna do a few episodes. it's been a total surprise for me.

TVFanatic.com: With such critical fans, do you find yourself checking the internet to see their reactions?
Misha: No I'm not an internet guy. I don't google around. My mother will occasionally send me things. She enjoys trolling the internet. I'm not somebody who reads blogs. I barely have time to keep up with my email.

TVFanatic.com: What's it like working with Jensen and Jared?
Misha: It's great. I honestly couldn't ask for better co-workers. They work really hard. They always show up prepared. With a really good attitude. They're fun and funny and sarcastic and make the experience on the set enjoyable. We just laugh a lot. I've been on so many other sets where everyone is miserable. I'm really happy to be working on Supernatural.

TVFanatic.com: We've definitely seen Castiel grow as a character, where do you see him going?
Misha: I have no clue. I have feeling that Castiel at his core is a good angel. He's gonna end up serving Sam and Dean in some way. I don't know. That's just my educated guess. It's not like I've gotten a phone call from Eric Kripke, "Oh Misha, we've decided to make Castiel an astronaut next season."

TVFanatic.com: And now for the mandatory question, any Supernatural spoilers you can reveal?
Misha: Sam is gonna be wrestling with the BTs in the coming episodes as he goes through a little demon blood withdrawl. It's gonna be forced cold turkey withdrawl. It will drives a little wedge between him and Dean.

А это он сказал на конвенции в Нью Джерси, когда его попросили изобразить реплику, которую он говорил, когда его прослушивали на роль демона - его же изначально в сайдсах и кастинг-колле брали на демона, для конспирации, чтоб фаны не пронюхали про ангелов. Ну и он сказал - что не обезьяна он ))) Тем более, до этого он уже про "респект" произносил, все кончили )))
