Все-таки олень - это состояние души, от этого не уйдешь!
Поречили мне тут в ответ на мой реквест очередную книгу, я скачала (хорошо, хоть бесплатно), заглядываю в конец, естественно, и читаю:
He goes then, quickly, before he does a really crap embarrassing cry. He
can feel it wanting to come out, a proper stupid childish wail with snot and tears
and angry stamping, and that's not how he wants it to end. He's trying to be
grown-up about something for the first time ever, but maturity is fucking
overrated if this is how it makes you feel. He still lingers a bit in the car,
clutching the steering wheel but not starting the engine yet, just resting his
forehead on his hands and wondering if Lindsay's watching him through a
window, wondering if he's going to do a brilliant Hollywood last-minute
turnabout and come running out to stop him, but of course he doesn't.
He really really wishes that he hadn't left his monkey on Lindsay's
pillow. It seems stupid now, but it's too late to go back.
Then he starts the engine, and drives away.
Честно говоря, я сильно раздражилась, поскольку в реквесте специально указала, что хэппи-энд обязателен - думаю, английского языка эти люди, что ли, не понимают. Ну ладно, читать не стала и забыла. А тут приходят мне очередные комменты к этому посту и народ там активно обсуждает этот Stockholm Syndrome, какой замечательный фик и как надо бы его отдельно поречить вообще - и я смотрю, что они адресуют его как трилогию. Внимательно изучила скачанный мной файл, трилогией там и не пахнет. Погуглила - оказывается, не я одна такая!

Обнадеженная, пошла на lulu.com, прошерстила все по нику автора и обнаружила вторую и третью части! Заглянула в финал третьей - ололо:
"Speaking of. Honeymoon in Topshop?"
"You're amazing," Pip says, and takes the cigarette out of
Lindsay's mouth so he can kiss him.
Совсем другое дело - теперь можно спокойно браться за чтение!!
