Supernatural's Dean and Sam battle a vicious new demon-and discover the secrets of Halloweeen

• One day before Halloween, Supernatural offers tricks, treats and a big bad visitor from Lucifer's legions. The Winchester brothers have continued their cross-country deomon hunting in their '67 Impala this season, but the proverbial stakes have been raised. Since Dean (Jensen Ackles) was rescued from Hell by an angel named Castiel (24's Misha Collins) in the season premiere, he and younger brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) have been conscripted into the battle to stop Armageddon, the ultimate confrontation between good and evil.

• "We're not doing a weekly Bible study," executive producer Eric Kripke promises. "But we've always flirted with the world of God and the Devil, so it's been fun to dive headlong into it." That means introducing a couple of angels he calls "very fierce and dangerous warriors with mysterious motives. We definitely didn't want Michael Landon/Roma Downey characters of comfort and salvation." Enter Castiel--appropriately the gaurdian of Thursdays in some mythologies--and Uriel(Prison Break's Robert Wisdom), his wrathful sidekick.

• In the October 30 episode, several inexplicable deaths leading up to Halloween put the brothers on the trail of a witch using blood sacrifices to raise Samhain, an ancient and powerful demon from Celtic folklore. "October 31 was widely believed to be the night that the veil between the living and the dead was the thinnest," Kripke explains. "The tradition of wearing masks was to hide from Samhain, candy was left to appease him, and pumpkins were carved to trap him. So everyone today puts on adorable little Star Wars costumes and goes door to door to eat miniature Milky Ways, it was really about blood and death and ghosts and demons."

• Raising Samhain is key to releasing the biggest bad of all, Satan, from his prison, so Castiel and Uriel have a plan to keep that cell door closed: Smite the whole town. "For some reason," Collins jokes, "the brothers get uptight about that."

• The show's rabid fan base is notoriously tough on new characters, but they've taken to Castiel, whom Kripke describes as "a leader who speaks softly and carries a very, very big stick." (He fries the eyes of those who dare to look at his true form.) Collins says he drew from the Book of Revelation for his inspiration: "Angels figure prominently, but have nothing to do with the popularly conceived characters with wings and halos. They are coming down to destroy the human population."

• Complicating matters for the brothers as they gird for battle, their relationship is showing cracks. Dean is keeping secrets from his brother and is worried--for reasons not yet explained--about Sam using his growing powers to exorcise demons. "The angels are very wary of Sam," Padalecki reveals. "The fact that he has some demon blood doesn't bode well. If I turn to the dark side, they may have to declare war on me as well." Collins backs that up: "Some of us want Sam dead, though I'm happy to come down on the side of keeping him alive." Could the siblings be on a opposite teams of the coming battle--Dean fighting for the angels, Sam leading the demons? "Sam has embraced his powers for the right reasons, he thinks," Padalecki says. "But there's a famous saying: 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions.'"

• The plot may be hurtling toward the Apocalypse, but the cult series is enjoying something of a resurrection. Season 4 kicked off with nearly four million viewers--the biggest audience since moving from the WB to the CW in 2006--and is averaging 3.6 million, 24 percent above las season. "Word of mouth is spreading that we're an overlooked show that's worth watching," Kripke says. "I'm proud that one of the few shows on television that's having regular conversations about God is a horror show on the CW."

• And the actors enjoy the time-slot challenge from CSI and Grey's Anatomy. "We've never had an easy battle on Supernatural," Padalecki says, "but we're fighting hard up against the larger networks. That's fine--I love to play the underdog." And it doesn't hurt to have the angel of Thursday in your corner.

A WISHING WELL THAT REALLY WORKS BRINGS CHAOS Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a small town where the wishing well really works. A teddy bear comes to life, someone wins the lottery and the town geek gets a hot girlfriend. The brothers realize that while everyone is happy now, the end result will be disastrous. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Ben Edlund (#3T7508).

So there really is going to be a giant teddy bear?
In season four of Supernatural, so far demon-hunting brothers Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) have faced angels, demons, Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy, time travel, and of course lots of intense family conflict. So what's ahead for the Winchesters? More angels and family drama, for starters. And it looks like the giant walking, talking teddy bear is on the way.

First, Aceshowbiz has the run-down on the boys' next hunt, which looks to be more on the traumatic than the funny side. Episode 4x06, airing Thursday, October 23, 9/8c, titled "Yellow Fever," has Sam and Dean investigating a mysterious illness that causes men to drop dead of fright. Dean catches the disease, which causes his behavior to spiral from anxiety to full-blown terror, while Sam and Bobby (Jim Beaver) frantically search for a cure. The website also has a sneak peek at what the CW is calling a "special broadcast" to follow the episode.

Here's a look at Supernatural' s November sweeps episodes, from a CW press release courtesy of The Futon Critic:

Thursday, October 30 - "It's The Great Pumpkin, Dean Winchester" (9:00-10:00 p.m.) As Halloween approaches, Sam and Dean race to find a witch who is sacrificing human lives in order to summon a dangerous demon, and Castiel returns with Uriel, a specialist angel who wants to smite the town.

Thursday, November 6 - "Wishful Thinking" (9:00-10:00 p.m.) When a young girl's teddy bear comes to life, Sam and Dean discover that the town's wishing well really works, blurring the line between reality and fantasy.

Thursday, November 20 - "Hell's Angels" (9:00-10:00 p.m.) Angels Castiel and Uriel do battle with demons over Anna, the girl who can hear angelic conversations. Dean tells Sam what happened to him in Hell.

Also, it looks like we may see the return of psychic Pamela Barnes, who appeared in the season premiere, "Lazarus Rising." The actress who portrays Pamela, Traci Dinwiddie, gave an interview with Eclipse Magazine, and said she would be returning for an episode later this season. “That’s about all I can say or I’d be searching for a new meat suit," Dinwiddie added. "Kripke likes to keep it on lock down!"

Народ, у меня к вам вопрос )))

Кто смотрел фильм "Зеленая миля" - ну, я думаю, многие смотрели, вроде фильм известный - и кому он понравился, вы не могли бы объяснить, ЧЕМ???

Это совершенно не в плане наезда или упаси Боже, спора, просто так вышло, что я его не смотрела, а только слышала, и тут маме подруга всучила обязательно посмотреть... и я не знаю, как мы выдержали эти три часа. Ну то есть вообще никак и самое главное, я не поняла, в чем был смысл и зачем оно все вообще было снято???
Но т. к. название на слуху, видимо, людям нравится - и мне было бы так дико интересно узнать, что я там просмотрела и что должно было привлечь...

Все пишут про RSYA и голосование, а я не буду ничего писать, у меня моральная травма, потому что каждый раз, когда я проверяю, как записался диск, я попадаю либо на клип по AHBL, где Дин плачет над Сэмом, либо по 3х16, где соответственно, тоже понятно что, либо просто на что-то общедепрессивное, где все или просто страдают или страдают, а потом умирают.
Так больше нельзя, поэтому запоздало присоединяюсь ко флешмобу!

Отличный (мне кажется) клип по СПН - The Monster is Loose - он длинный, но динамичный и классный ))) По 4х01-4х04.

Но честно говоря, я была бы очень благодарна авторам, если бы они перестали пихать во все клипы сцены смерти Дина. Или Дина при смерти. Или страдающего Дина.
Спасибо хоть после этого вставляют тот момент, когда он выкапывается из могилки, но все равно, все равно...

Новый альбом Бушидо докушивает моск - шикарная вещь, очень мне нравится )))

Айподов на 16 гигов в Москве, похоже, так все еще и нету - черных, во всяком случае, обидно...

Группы на дайри - палевная штука, названия-то видны, но с другой стороны, всегда неожиданно приятно бывает обнаружить себя в группе "друзья", а не "остальные избранные"

Прикольный фик по J2 по 4.05 - Gretel to His Hansel - я всегда верила, что авторы не пройдут мимо шортиков и гольфов

Всё как всегда: мои обычные посты по СПН со свунами и литьем слюней изредка перемежаются лишь мечтательными постами о том, какую технику я хочу прикупить
Стало быть, это пост второго типа.

Мой ноутбук прекрасен, но 4 года - это 4 года, и он явно не отвечает всем веяниям нового времени, так что я настойчиво (на сей раз) озабочена выбором нового. Долго думала, 15 или 17 дюймов брать: с одной стороны, мне 15 - более чем, а с другой, HD все-таки хочется смотреть, а 15" редко бывают с разрешением выше 1280, так что решила все-таки 17". Надеюсь, он не будет уж слишком громадным, 4 кило - в принципе нормально, по дому я точно дотащу, куда надо, главное только, чтобы на журнальный столик влез
Хочу снова Асус, надеюсь, он будет таким же надежным - вроде, присмотрела этот: Asus M70V.
Конечно, сканер отпечатков пальцев и вебкамера мне нафиг не нужны, но что поделаешь, раз в комплекте дают.

А на этом пока поставила новую обойку на рабочий стол :-D
